L'elisir d'amore 33 Temporada d'Òpera i Ballet

L'elisir d'amore is an opera to savour from the first note to the very last. From the the Romantic and Belcanto period, Donizetti's opera is guaranteed enjoyment, thanks to its suggestive, entertaining and melodic music. It is full of charm. This new production of the Teatro Principal has been conceived by the Mallorcan director José Martret, who is a promoter of some of the most original theatrical projects in our country, such as the already extinct theatres of Madrid, La Casa de la Portera and La Pensión de las Pulgas. Here he makes his debut in the lyrical field with an original approach: he places the love story between Nemorino and Adina in a hotel next to a Balearic beach in the 1960s. It is also a complicit recognition of the aesthetics of the Gran Hotel Budapest by Wes Anderson. For the backdrop, a luxury ally has been acquired in Lorenzo Caprile, who has designed the costumes. The cast also has one of the most promising talents of contemporary Belcanto, the tenor Xabier Anduaga, sponsored by Juan Diego Flórez. Alongside is Adina de Sara Blanch, together with two regulars on our stage: the reliable Simón Orfila and Joan Martí-Royo. The orchestra pit is headed by Yi-Chen Lin, who was greatly applauded in the Principal for Las bodas de Figaro (The Marriage of Figaro).
