Setmana Santa 80 i el memorial (“Holy Week 80 and the Memorial”) is one of the least-known works by the author: a narrative dissertation by Blai Bonet on the events of Holy Week and a reinterpretation of the events told in the Gospel, which was written by the author and read in the church of Santanyí during the build up to Holy Week in 1980. It’s a text that is totally relevant to this day and which deals with understanding the events told in the Bible from a contemporary point of view and the ever-unique perspective offered by the author. From the very first line Bonet’s verbiage, richness of lexicon and poetic register are obvious, which combine standard forms with dialectisms, vulgarisms and other modernisms with complete and perfect harmony.
