The programme we offer shows two American composers of 20th-century aesthetics so that people lose the fear of listening to the different 20th-century kinds of music: A. Copland and A. Piazzola.

We will listen to Aaron Copland's Appalachian Spring – a suite from the original ballet of the same title—a work commissioned by Martha Graham – one of the great 20th-century dance transformers and promoters. The work's original version was written and premièred by 13 instruments in 1944, amid World War II, and the following year it was awarded the Pulitzer Prize.

Astor Piazzola revolutionised the Argentine tango with his new style. He studied in France with Nadia Boulanger, later returned to Argentina, and continued working with A. Ginastera, who had studied with A. Copland in the USA. Therefore, there is a stylistic and thought-form link between the two composers of the programme.

Lastly, the work of the young Mallorcan composer Laia Vallés – winner of the Institut d'Estudis Baleàrics Creation Prize, 2021 edition, is premièred.
