With this work, La Zaranda celebrates 45 years on stages of all around the world. A new indispensable chapter of one of the most creative and singular theatre groups of the Andalusian, the National, and the International scene.

‘What if I came back to life?’ wonders one of the characters who is disregarded at the bottom of the mirror. In front of him, an actor who has grown old from dressing room to dressing room, making up his intimal defeat, his worn-out illusions, and the disappointment which darkens his days. In this fruitless present where he does not seem to be up to his dreams and expectations, he will irradiate hope onstage with his last spare strength.

In alliance with his character, he is going to turn the theatre’s entrails upside down with his usual humanity, coming across his vices and virtues. They will descend to hell, bump into mazes where the bureaucrats stuck up their tedium, avoid the sinkholes covered by the red carpets of fame, and light dark galleries impregnated by vulgarity; all trying to free Segismondo from an alienating and prosaic reality, transforming Clavileño into a Pegasus. Defying death and oblivion again, they will seek happiness in their reencounter with theatre.

Manual para armar un sueño is an ode to hope that seeks to put light on the shadows of a hostile world to everyone who escapes its tricks. An unending journey through History which nonetheless takes place during the short moment from the dressing room to the stage. Such a thin dream as the thread of a star which resists against all kind of storms.

A collaboration between Teatro La Zaranda, Teatro Español de Madrid, Teatre Romea de Barcelona, and Teatro de Rojas de Toledo.
