Toni Gener Ferrero’s text is set in the Menorcan town of Ciutadella in 1558, and depicts the harsh events that occurred during those fatidic days.

Written in a direct style without concessions, it immerses the audience in the devastation of Ciutadella, but also in the devastation of Gaza, Ukraine, Iran, Yemen, or Somalia. It helps us to understand the fear and value of those who stay, and the desperation of those who flee.

The text is first-person narrative and that is how the performer experiments it, making the protagonist’s suffering, anguish, fear, and guiltiness tangible for the audience.

Leonmanso’s original music supports the protagonist’s words, and connects with the emotions that are portrayed throughout the play. These songs are not just a simple musical backup. The sensibility of the Menorcan songwriter makes his music to become a narrative element which resounds with the story, transforming the protagonist’s sorrow into a form of art shared with the audience.
