In Ahora todo es noche, La Zaranda Teatro brings together an entire universe created throughout its 40 years of history. Moving between the chronicle of the grotesque, visual expressionism, the aftertaste of tragedy, deranged humour and an emphatic poetic dedication. There is nothing like it in the current scene. Traditional and unconventional, living contradiction, always countercurrent. Always. A cult company that increases in its number of faithful followers with each liturgical assembly. Amen. On this occasion, the people of Jerez show us a desolate path lit up by three beggars on a bitter night looking for shelter. The play turns three characters like Sigismund, Prometheus and King Lear into poverty-stricken people, who hope to find somewhere to spend the tempests of life. The beggars are them, because the story is actually the autobiography of the La Zaranda theatre after forty years. The fundamental as an aesthetic proposal. The existential as a discursive proposal. Deciphering its essence. Here is the universe of a company, its wounds and scars, its disarmed imagination, its soulful voice, its evicted characters.
