Through Antigone's myth, we give a voice to the loved ones of the victims who disappeared during the Spanish Civil War and its aftermath. We're talking about wives, sisters, daughters and granddaughters. We’re talking about women who were compelled to remain silent, women who are still searching to this day, women who yet haven't been able to exhume their loved ones and bury them again, this time with dignity.
2077 is not just a number; it is the story behind a census carried out by the Government of the Balearic Islands in compliance with Spain's Historical Memory Law. It is the constant assassination of the right to mourn, publicly or privately, to cry and to share. It is the assassination of memory.
How many times must the 2077 be assassinated without the right to a memory?
Antígones 2077 is not the future. It is the past. It still haunts us to this day.
