Agrupación Señor Serrano is one of the most suggestive and radically
original companies on the European scene. This is endorsed by awards such as the
Silver Lion at the 2016 Venice Biennale. In their scenic language they make use
of technology, not its most sophisticated version but rather its most artisan
form. They combine video, performance and models, with which they form micro-universes
in every show. And in essence, they always convey a critical and non-conformist
message, like the one that underlies Birdie,
their vision of the refugee crisis, where they reflect the contrasts between
opulence and misery, peace and war, pain and indolence.... This is not in order
to generate sterile anger but rather to bring about transformative reflection.
A production by the Grec 2016 Festival de Barcelona, the Agrupación Señor
Serrano, the Fabrique de Théâtre - Service des Arts de la Scène de la Province
de Hainaut, the Festival Terrassa Nuevas Tendències, Monty Kultuurfaktorij and
the Festival Konfrontacje Teatralne.
