Cuirassa Oberta is the first creation by the dance group Companyia Marilén Ribot. This show, which is entirely produced by the company, was born after the personal need of treating intimate, but also universal themes, always through the scope of beauty and using a physical language which harmonizes circus techniques and dramatic writing.
Cuirassa Oberta blends body, word, movement, sound space, and performance. The visual and textual dramaturgies coexist along with circus disciplines such as equilibrium on glass bottles, sword swallowing, cyr wheel, air prism, and knife throwing.
When a piece of pottery is broken in Japan, they fix it with gold resin and dust, turning it into a unique object with a new aesthetic character and a new value.
This show invites the audience to embrace our wounds and pains so as to accept and embellish them. Cuirassa Oberta reflects on resilience and will power. It pushes us to look inside ourselves so as to reach a definition of our emotional and physical damages, and consequently to keep growing up and developing our identity.
