Confined inside a room with two windows connecting them to a lifeless outside, Hamm, a blind invalid, and Clov, his servant, a crippled and hyperactive man, pass the time and argue. Nagg and Nell, Hamm's old parents, who live inside two rubbish bins, accompany them. Despite the adversities, the whole thing is "a pure game without any talk of riddles and solutions", because "for the important things, there are already universities, churches and cafés". And Endgame is theatre.
