Hacemos como que bailamos... (As if we were dancing…) is a manifesto that exposes those factors which take the original essence of dancing away from us! It reminds me of that day when I told my mother: “Mom, I want to be a dancer.” It mirrors dance as a profession, showing the audience the most hidden aspects of professional dancing.
The pleasure of dancing confronts the pain, the effort, and the sacrifice resulting from it. Five performers struggling with the constant contradiction between freedom and restriction. Dancing as subversion; the rebellion of instructed, confined, sleepy, surrendered bodies which are exhausted from quotidian life, responsibility, adult life, and normality.
Hacemos como que bailamos celebrates dance; it signifies a visual and sound experience traveling from pleasure and virtuosity, to ridicule and criticism.
