The Valencian company La Teta Calva continues to bolster the prestige that it has gradually accumulated over its short but intense trajectory. After Penev, which earned it a nomination for the Best New Show at the Max awards, it has turned its focus to the banks of the Mississipi River, in order to give us its own reading of Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer. Its authors, Laia Cadenas and Xavo Giménez, highlight the naive rebelliousness of the character created by Mark Twain, one of the iconic children of world literature. The story takes place on a dilapidated boat with the blues serving as its “sound track”. Consistent in the battle against the chauvinistic prejudices that Twain combatted, they have turned Sawyer into an intrepid and starry-eyed girl.
