The more than twenty years of constant activity of this trio (“the best jazz band to come out of Poland” according to the trumpet player Tomasz Stanko) have produced a group that goes beyond the personality of the piano player through two performers who link up with his music with a prodigious familiarity: while Wasilewski is able to carve out moving and elegant phrasing on the piano, with a subtle sense that is very well executed from the rhythm and dynamic that are reminiscent of several piano masters such as Jarrett and Mehldau; the drummer Michal Miśkiewicz performs intelligently and Slawomir Kurkiewicz, on the bass, interacts with high doses of connection and with perfect timing, showing that they are complements, rather than accompanying elements. The Polish trio sounds of risk that is well understood and creativity. The have a totally symbiotic creative flow, an unhurried but highly concentrated lyricism. Their music is created with stillness, patience, and above all, with wisdom. There is certainly no other Polish jazz group that is so important.
