Prolific Cuban pianist and composer Roberto Fonseca, held in such high regard throughout the world in the contemporary jazz circuits and even nominated for a Grammy award, merges a whole range of styles in his music, which stands out thanks to its combination of Afro-Cuban rhythms mixed with elements of soul, funk, blues and hip hop. The concert here at the Teatre Principal will mainly showcase his album Yesun. “It’s the album I always wanted to make,” recalls Fonseca, talking of the album which is a perfect cocktail of everything from jazz and classical music to rap, funk and electronica, blazing trails and breaking down all barriers in its path. “I take inspiration from all of these styles. All of these sounds and energies make me who I am.”
