Coinciding with the Holy Week festivities, the Teatre Principal de Palma would like to offer an extraordinary concert dedicated to one of the most admired scores in the realm of sacred music, Stabat Mater by Pergolesi. Gian Battista Pergolesi composed this piece in 1736, when he was suffering from an advanced stage of tuberculosis and he had just a few months to live. It is a composition for soprano, violins, viola, cello, bass and organ that the young Chamber Orchestra of Mallorca, conducted by the up-and-coming Bernat Quetglas, which they will play for us at a special matinée performance. The orquestra will also perform Il Santo Sepolcro de Vivaldi and Il Lamento d’Arianna de Locatelli.
